ISLAND OF THE AMS SKATEBOARD CONTEST

The “Island Of The Ams” skateboard contest is back for its 2nd annual edition following its big debut at Wakestock last year. One of Canada’s largest amateur skate contests, Island of the Ams is dedicated to showcasing the top up-and-coming skaters in the country. There’s $5,000 in cash on the line, divided between a series of best trick and street contests in the RGX Skatepark and the Milk Mini-Ramp.

A highlight this year will be the two pro skate demos, one by the Globe Shoes Team and the other by the Zoo York Team. Anticipated Globe pro skaters include Chris Haslam and Paul Machnau, along with Am Team skaters Ryan Decenzo, Dave Nolan, Lee Yankou, Phil McKnight and Jesse Landen. And from Zoo York, look for Donny Barely, Zered Basett, Forest Kirby, Aaron Suski and Kevin Taylor.

When the RGX Skatepark isn’t being ripped apart by the top pros and ams, there will be daily freeskate sessions for all skaters; plus a skate industry vendor village featuring many of the leading brands.
