Some of the theatre-makers in our city could learn a few things from this dance show. Not only are the performers as active listeners as one could want onstage, but they are also, apparently, enjoying themselves — and want to share that with joy with their viewers.

Though their claim to be searching for a new partner-dance for the next generation is a starting point at best, the sexy yet silly displays of playful teasing and physical technique in Take It Back intriguingly blend break dance and swing, keeping the energy high and the hands clapping.  

Indeed, in throwing out the traditional boy/girl dance partner limitations and bouncing atop a soundscape full of beats and old jazz and soul standards, this piece almost begs you to join in. Actually, if you’re lucky, you might get a chance to do just that.
