1. Will The Perez Hilton/Will.I.Am Drama Ever Stop?Nobody puts Perez in the corner! After Perez Twittered about a post-MMVAs assault by Black Eyed Peas’ singer Will.I.Am at Toronto’s Cobra nightclub, BEP tour manager Polo Molina has turned himself into the authorities and will appear in court Aug. 5. A pink-haired Perez tearfully addressed his website, saying that the alleged gay-bashing “was how violence happens,” adding that no one deserves to be hit. Yet, this incident apparently happened after Perez baited Will.I.Am by calling him a faggot! The following local indie musicians weighed in on the situation on Twitter:Owen Pallett: I wonder if anybody has filed an accusation of assault because of a noogie?Arkells: Like, to be fair to will.i.am, our Nick was punched out by Perez Hilton, and he punched out a Jonas Brother. It's like fight club in there.Dan Mangan: I beat up Perez Hilton last night.. I think he's bleeding.Ouch. To hear both sides of the story, here are Will.I.Am and Perez's official video responses. 2. Lily Allen Says “Fuck You”In the latest single from her 2009 album It’s Not Me, It’s You, Lily Allen comments on George W. Bush’s homophobia, racism and daddy complex with a sentiment simple enough for even him to understand: "Fuck You." While the track's relevance is questionable in the Obama age, this kicky first-person video — shot in a style reminiscent of British sitcom Peep Show — has the singer transforming the butts, up-dos and faces of European passersby with the flick of a finger as the chorus echoes, “fuck you very very much.” Punk’s not dead, right?
3. Oasis Fans Get Money BackAfter a Heaton Park show in their hometown of Manchester that ended prematurely due to a faulty generator, almost one third of a 20,000-person crowd took up the offer of a free onstage refund from Noel Gallagher. At a loss of one million dollars, Gallagher later regretted his decision, deeming the thrifty audience who cashed-in “cheeky cunts” on his personal blog. Check out the video here:
4. Watch This Underrated Guided By Voices Documentary‘Cause it’s probably too hot and garbage-y in your apartment to do anything else, right? Pitchfork’s got your back, streaming the 1997 cult documentary Watch Me Jumpstart on the even cultier Guided By Voices. It was directed by Banks Tarver, who according to IMDB is best known as the Executive Director for I Want To Work For Diddy. Expect much drinking.
5. What Is Crab Core? The Daily Distraction has officially found the worst band ever. Meet Ohio’s Attack Attack!, whose auto-tuned vocals and boy-band haircuts barely belie their screamo roots. Described by The Guardian as “a cross between Enter Shikari and the Vengaboys,” Attack Attack! and their crab-core cohort are defined by their guitarists' sumo-like stances (to accommodate those shredding licks), akin to those of crabs. In short, the musical equivalent of scabies.
