Love and Sex

This week in sex: October 5 edition

Miss Mitzy Cream’s Kitten Revue
Oct. 10, Tranzac
She’s sweet as a slice of cherry pie, yet wears nothing but heels, and her plush feather boa surreptitiously hides several venti-sized tattoos. Imagine Scarlett O’Hara coming to life as a Hell’s Angel and you get Miss Mitzy Cream, a self-professed “contradiction vixen” who has swirled her tassels everywhere from New Orleans to Edson, Alberta. For her Kitten Revue this Friday, Mitzy brings together several gems of Toronto’s corset scene (including Tanya Cheex and Dew Lily) for an evening of lace and folly. Attend if you like any of the following: parasols, horn-y music, free giveaways from Condom Shack. 8pm. $20/$15 adv. 292 Brunswick.

New Session of Beginner Pole Dancing
Oct 11, Aradia Fitness
Remember when Jessie from Saved By the Bell morphed into sexed-up drifter-stripper Nomi Malone in the movie Showgirls? That could be you! With a new session of beginner pole dancing at Aradia Fitness, you can Elizabeth Berkley it up without even showing any nip. Work your core and triceps while sweating like you just did three shots of Jager for the last dance of the night. Still not sure about ditching the old Bowflex? Check out Aradia’s classes for nada at their Open House event this Saturday. 'Cause no one’s tucking any dollar bills into your gym shorts. Pole dancing classes run Sun 11am, Tue 7:30pm, Wed 1pm & 6pm. $99/session. Open House Sat 2:30pm. Free. Women only. RSVP toronto@aradiafitness.com or 416-901-2848. 721 Queen W.

Laid: Young People’s Experiences with Sex in an Easy-Access Culture
Oct. 14, Revival
At 13, you might not have had your first kiss. Then again, you might be a full-time inhabitant of the adult world — one that could include abuse, pregnancy and life-threatening STIs. While compiling her anthology Laid, editor Shannon T. Boodram asked contributors between the ages of 18 and 25 to submit sexually transformative stories from their teen years, and their tales are as varied as they are relatable. Although the book is largely aimed at young girls, its engaging, anti-preach approach to sex-ed is one we can all get under. Bring your little sister to the launch, hosted by MTV’s Tika Simone. 6pm-10pm. 783 College. Free. All ages.
