The T.O. Do List: November 26

1. Camera Obscura’s hometown of Glasgow may have once been dubbed the murder capital of Europe, but the band’s lovesick indie-pop is all orchestral sweetness. On their fourth album, My Maudlin Career, lead singer Tracyanne Campbell shoots for the chest, but hers is the kind of heartache you can dance to. The band returns to the Phoenix (410 Sherbourne) tonight with The Papercuts. $20.50 from Ticketmaster, Rotate This, Soundscapes, Horseshoe. 8pm.

2. Now on the last leg of her fall tour, East Coast songstress Jenn Grant's star continues to rise. With her sophomore record, Echoes, and a resumé chock full of projects with CanCon faves including The Weakerthans and Great Lake Swimmers, Grant’s sure to charm you with her dreamy vocals and earthy folk vibe tonight at the Glenn Gould Studio (250 Front W.). $29.50. 8pm.

3. What do Tom Hanks, James Stewart and Judy Garland have in common? Aside from pluck, they’ve all starred in movies inspired by Miklos Laszlo’s Parfumerie. This romantic comedy, here staged by Soulpepper and directed by Morris Panych, tells of two shop clerks who unknowingly fall in love with each other. Parfumerie opens tonight at the Young Centre (55 Mill, bldg 49) and runs Thursday to Saturdays, Mondays to Wednesdays at 7:30pm and Satursdays at 1:30pm until Dec. 24. $28-$68 from 416-866-8666, www.soulpepper.ca.
