The T.O. Do List: Feb. 9

1. Judging from the lyrics of Those Darlins' rollicking honky-tonk songs, messing with these Nashville-based tough cookies — or their mothers (“Mama’s Heart”) — will result in them kicking your ass, without even bothering to take your name. Tonight at the Horseshoe's Nu Music Nite, they top a great bill that also features Hacienda (Dan Auerbach’s backing band) and a set from our own Meligrove Band, all at the recession-friendly price of FREE. 370 Queen W. 9pm.

2. If you happen to be one of those people who have always dreamed of a night of dance and theatre inspired by the edginess of film noir, that’s kind of weird. But Under a Paper Moon is exactly what you’ve been looking for. If that hasn’t been your dream, don’t worry — the production is bound to have something to suit your taste: from dance to music to theatre. The show begins its run tonight at 8pm and continues on to Feb. 19. $16-$20. Hub 14, 14 Markham. 416-504-6429. www.hub14.org.

3. Factory Theatre is currently presenting the world premiere of And So It Goes, George F. Walker’s first play for the stage in 10 years. This ought to be a cause for celebration except that this slight neo-absurdist work contains only two or three ideas that it exhausts about halfway through. However, the cast and Walker’s direction are top-notch; the play may not have the visceral impact of vintage Walker, but its turning away from outward shocks to a greater interest in the inner lives of its characters is a development that will be intriguing to follow. Tuesdays to Thursdays, 8pm, $25; Fridays and Saturdays 8pm, $35; Sundays 2pm, $25 or PWYC; $10 rush tickets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. To Feb. 28.
