1. The multi-talented, multi-focused, ultra-Canadian writer and musician Paul Quarrington died this morning after a battle with lung cancer. Here’s the CBC’s obituary.
2. The Wall Street Journal reports that Conan O’Brien is officially leaving NBC, with a contract payout of 32.5 million. (His staff gets to share 12 million.) O’Brien is allowed to appear on another network in September. Aaaaand I’m bored.
3. Tyler Grey at Fast Company writes about Vice’s new partnership with CNN. Read Shane Smith fall all over himself explaining the collaboration.
4. Regine Chassagne from the Arcade Fire, who students of indie rock will know is Haitian, writes about the earthquake for the Guardian.
5. Having recently turned 29 I am newly interested in the symbolism of age, and youth, and, as always, I like lists and rules. So I really dug this thing from Platform.com called “Find Yourself at 25.” It’s a little bit right and a little depressing.
