The house that Conrad lost

Number 10 Toronto Street, just up from the King Edward Hotel, is mythic not just for being an early post office (built in 1853) but for being the former seat of Conrad Black’s worldwide media empire.
The classical building, with its pillars and impressively thick front door, was the architectural equivalent of Black’s public personality. Until a recent renovation by the new owners, the security camera that caught Black removing boxes of evidence from the office was visible on the building’s backside. Some might say that deserves a historic plaque of its own.
