There is a new McDonald’s at Gerrard Square, right next door to the old one that was recently torn down. Apart from moving the building 100 feet, the new McDonald’s haas gone upscale, with a Starbucks-like interior and comfortable chairs. Casting no judgment on the food served inside, the destruction of a perfectly serviceable building is a waste of energy and resources. Also wasted was the opportunity to take back more of the parking lot and establish a retail streetscape along this busy stretch of Gerrard.
