WHO: Vanessa Gronowski, a.k.a. Vaneska (www.vaneska.com), DJ and STUDIO gallery director; Avery Hunsberger, web designer and founder of STUDIO.

WHAT: A 4,000-square-foot, four-bedroom loft at College and Spadina.

HOW LONG: Three years.

THE STORY: Infamous for their after-parties, Hunsberger and Gronowski decided to give their space (known to avid partygoers as Ourspace) a DIY upgrade earlier this year, converting the loft’s two large back rooms into a gallery called STUDIO.

Their eclectic space boasts a screening room, a sticker-covered pop machine filled with Pabst Blue Ribbon and a toilet plastered with flyers for DJ Shit La Merde.

Gronowski is especially fond of the loft’s tucked-away location. “I like being more secret and hidden,” she says. “If you come upon our place and see this broken door, you would never guess that it’s an art gallery, or that anyone even lives here for that matter.”
