WHO Hailed as Holland’s latest floor-filling export, globetrotting DJ/producer René Amesz has been rounding up a greater following in the past year. Recently reworking Red Hot Chili Peppers’ single “By the Way” with Rotterdam DJ Peter Gelderblom (renamed “Waiting For”), the duo have put out releases on La Factoria and Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain Recordings (notably, 2006’s “You Make Me Climb The Wall”). Getting his start spinning in 1996 in his hometown of Zwijndrecht in the Netherlands and producing for the Mid-Town label under various aliases, Amesz gained an international following in the early 2000s with productions like “Open Your Soul” and “Back Into the Funk.” In 2004, he entered the upper echelon of jocks at Holland’s renowned Extrema Music events alongside Pete Tong and Steve Lawler. Having steadily made remixes for labels including Stereo Productions, Toolroom and 25 Hertz Recordings (and, most recently, Fedde Le Grand and Funkerman), Amesz is returning to original work with an EP release planned for early this year, before returning to the remix way of thinking for Noir Music.
