The lovers-from-different-sides-of-the-track tale is as old a format as love itself. But real-life spouses Gillian and Russell Bennett use a current issue to frame the story of environmental activist Abbie and oil company employee Phyllis (Gillian) who fall in love despite their contradictory vocations. The interplay between fiery Phyllis and goofy Abbie is entertaining throughout, and the palpable chemistry created by Gillian and Russell draws you into the tragic arc of their relationship. The narrative also illuminates a question that needs be asked in today’s fragile world: on who or what do we have the greatest impact?
