EYE WEEKLY Review:
Loosely based on the life of Stephen Hawking, A Singularity of Being begins with a religion vs. science debate and a rather head-spinning discussion of the possibilities of seeing into the past before turning into a more conventional domestic drama about how a debilitating illness affects the relationship between a brilliant quantum physicist and his unflinchingly loyal wife. Nothing wrong with conventional, especially when it’s so powerfully acted and inventively structured (even if the recurring science/religion theme fits just a bit awkwardly into the narrative framework).
