EYE WEEKLY Review:

Elaine Smookler has a face that’s both comic and sympathetic, a charisma you’d follow on any journey. But on this one, through the six Bardos or phases of Buddhist living and dying, she doesn’t seem to be taking us anywhere at all. One minute she’s a singing bag lady, the next she’s making gun-shooting noises at mysterious figures in dragon masks and, not having a copy of The Tibetan Book of the Dead on hand, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why. Sure, sure, being is nothingness, but then why so many costume and set changes?
