Re “He said, s/he said,” Love Bites, Aug. 21: Sasha’s piece on the fight between a homeowners’ group and the tranny prostitutes on Maitland street is a pack of lies!! I live near that corner — I am not a member of any organization but these guys have my full support! The hookers are atrocious!! They are loud, they scream, some of them are obviously on crack and I don’t understand why the cops do not take them away for disturbing the peace! This neighbourhood has a lot to offer — the only dark shadows are those freakin’ hookers!! Go guys! I hope you will succeed! JEREMY via EYEWEEKLY.COM

Strong piece, Sasha, in that you do consider both sides of this story. I live a couple of blocks from this stroll and have walked through the neighbourhood many, many times when headed to my partner’s apartment. Personally, all of the girls were always friendly, nice and personable. We joked, shared smokes and waved, given that I was heading through there almost daily. I can’t recall any notice of extreme loudness. In fact, considering the openness of the field at Jarvis Collegiate, I always thought it was rather quiet. But you also respect that the homeowners may not want this in their neighbourhood, based on the noise. If they have a noise complaint, they have the right to call the police to report it. Other than that, their efforts are just NIMBYism at its worst. And you’re right, the worst is yet to come with the new home-owners of the new condos. TRADEQT via EYEWEEKLY.COM

Godot damn it

Re Paul Gallant’s review of Waiting for Godot (On Stage, Aug. 21): This review is unacceptable. This production and company have some major flaws! The reviewer has not had the insight or journalist ethic to write about them. To review the promotion for the production and not say a word about its artistic merit (if any) is simply irresponsible journalism, which is not uncommon with the past and continuing coverage found in your magazine.  THEATREGUY via EYEWEEKLY.COM
