Sex-toy review: The Mystic Wand, $69.98 at Lovecraft, 27 Yorkville, 416-923-7331.

Commonly referred to as “the Cadillac of vibrators,” the Hitachi Magic Wand is known as the most powerful vibrator on the planet, offering orgasms so intense, many “train” their privates by placing the vibe over their clothes. But with its big, bulky shape and plug-in power, getting off can be a hassle.

That’s why California company Vibratex has introduced the Mystic Wand, a smaller, lighter, nearly silent and all around new-and-improved version of the classic 80s stand-by. Coated with an easy to clean silicone, the product boasts a round, bulbous head for direct vaginal stimulation, offering six different speeds and pulsations with flexible positioning, in addition to its elegant, inoffensive design. How powerful is it? The product takes four double AA batteries, baby, with additional attachments for internal stimulation ($19.98 each). Vibratex also offers a one-year warranty on its products.

“I like how light it is, with six different sensations that are basically like a roller coaster,” says Lovecraft manager Pamela Cameron. “And it’s definitely functional for both men and woman—and not just as vibrator. Let me tell you, I’ve got a bit of a stiff neck right now and I am definitely going to try this out.”
