Editorial Rating:

Toronto MC Arabesque makes a very good impression on this EP (although at 11 songs I’m not sure it qualifies as one), displaying a charismatic, intelligent flow and an ability to meld with the beats chosen on this well-produced effort. Though he’s not particularly gangstafied and is in touch with his feelings in a manner that brings to mind vintage Native Tongues, he doesn’t add anything new to the genre. But any addition of honesty and quality to hip-hop’s current pool is a plus. And I guess it’s good to be liked, but this could have existed without Rah Digga’s constant between-track co-signing. Still, the songs are consistently listenable, and they even include a screwed and chopped version of the song “Stick a Match.” Good times.
