Editorial Rating:
TERMINALS PLAY SNEAKY DEE’S (431 COLLEGE) AS PART OF URBAN PUNKFEST AUG 30.

This local punk trio have been playing for a few years now, with members Jules and Roddy having worked together since the ‘90s in bands including Repeat Offender. Their sound is a fairly straightforward, energetic gutter/streetpunk style. They speed up Johnny Cash favourite “Sam Hall,” playing it the way the town drunk might, if he was also on speed. It’s good stuff, but the mixing seems somewhat haphazard at times. A fun game is to try to decipher the words yourself, then compare those to the actual lyrics in the booklet — often the gulf between the two is impressive. The disc’s highlights include the dual vocal moralizing of “Rapehound” as well as “Asphyxiation,” which is introduced by a rap from drummer Twitchy, who’s also a member of a “progressive rap” group called Hobo Banditos. Terminals is fast, gnarly punk without pretension, so if that floats your boat, raise your anchor and set sail on this heavily tattooed musical barge.
