Editorial Rating:

The first release from DD/MM/YYYY multi-instrumentalist Moshe Rozenberg’s brand spankin’ new Itchy Roof Re-k&rds, this split LP/digital release, divided between Mississauga’s Tonnn and Toronto’s Lice, is an impressive debut to say the least. The bands are perfectly paired, with Tonnn spreading their four tracks of bristling early At the Drive-In meets screamo over roughly 16 minutes, opening with “Dick Wizard II: Dick Journey” (the sequel to “Dick Wizard,” naturally), while Lice cram the remaining 10 minutes with nine ditties ranging from jangly no-wave (“One is/of One”) to psychedelic hardcore (“Feudality Totality”) to what could be described as avant blues-drone (“The Seed ,, God”). Refreshing — like high-diving into a swimming pool full of electric eels.
