This is the last print edition of Totally Wired; following next week’s Music Critics’ Poll issue, it will be moved onto EYEWEEKLY.COM, where Online Editor Stuart Berman will be pointing you towards the best music-related nonsense that his RSS reader and/or Twitter feeds have to offer. Totally Wired was, in fact, his idea; back in 2005, he asked me to write it and even came up with the name. I’ve had a blast watching a handful of blogs go on to essentially eat the entire music industry, but after exactly four years, I’m ready to hand over the reins and go back to my old surfing diet — repeat viewings of the Numa Numa Dance kid (pictured), and the Paris Hilton Sex Tape, notwithstanding.

ONE TIME
While I’m being nostalgic, want to hear some wicked mashups? The subculture has dwindled but never quite vanished, because, at their core, mashups are just good DJs doing what they do best — hearing connections between songs. I’ve already gushed over Brat’s silky smooth “Easy Heaven (The Cure vs The Commodores),” but there are several other tracks included on Bootie USA’s Best of Bootie 2008 mix that remind us why they were charming in the first place. The Police’s “Roxanne” and The Bee Gees’ “You Should Be Dancing” were made for each other, while Justice’s “D.A.N.C.E.” and the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” plainly weren’t, but try to resist either mix and you’ll probably break your neck. MP3 OF THE WEEK
Radiohead & Barack Obama, “Creep (live in DC)”: For my final TW link, I leave you with the holy grail of MP3s, one that I’ve been saving for a special occasion: a live recording of a sound check from the band’s May 11 DC appearance, where the incumbent US president joined the internet’s most famous band for a charming little karaoke session. So what if Obama can’t sing? His sarcastic Jesse Jackson shout-out was priceless. (http://tinyurl.com/radiohead-obama)
