D-Sisive and Brian Borcherdt give it up for free

Following up from his Polaris-long-listed work Let The Children Die, Canadian rapper D-Sisive offers his newest full-length, Jonestown online for free. A mere “klick of the Kool-aid” allows you to both sample and download the joint. We especially recommend the hazy “Around The World,” featuring a guest spot by Toronto’s best Vincent Price impersonator, Slim Twig.

Not to be bested, Holy Fuck member Brian Borcherdt has demos from his album Torches available for free download, recorded in Nova Scotia from 2004 to 2006. It’s certainly a rougher-hewed sound than Holy Fuck’s glitchy electronica, showcasing the songwriter's softer side. In addition, his label Hand Drawn Dracula is offering a mixtape featuring singles by Borcherdt and labelmates that include Julie Fader, By Divine Right and Bishop Morocco.

Bob Dylan Must Be Santa

Because it’s still astonishingly surreal that Robert Zimmerman has recorded an entire Christmas album, do yourself a favor and watch this highly bizarre video for his menacing take on “Must Be Santa.” Plus, seeing Bob Dylan in his Tom Waits top hat never hurt anyone.

NPR Lists The Most Important Albums Of The Decade
The only list you need to ascertain the music of aughts (other than EYE WEEKLY's this December) comes from NPR, whose nifty, single-friendly format allows you to actually stream the songs from the bands in question. It’s mercifully more erratic and unlikely than a lot of best ofs, though Animal Collective and the Arcade Fire still make appearances. (One gripe to consider is the supposed greatness of Bon Iver — never got it, never will get it.) Mini-packages including a genre index from crabcore to shitgaze complete the survey. And hey, remember these guys?
