Jean Sibelius Park

BY Shawn Micallef   March 19, 2008 14:03

Jean Sibelius Park Tucked away in Deepest Annex on Kendal Avenue is Jean Sibelius Park, named after the Finnish composer. His bust can be found to the north of the park, formerly surrounded by packs of dogs, as the park was leash-free until this past January. The site of predictable discord between Toronto’s fiercest warring factions, dogs and parents, the park also includes an elaborate children’s compound where fur-free offspring can play in a fenced-in enclosure. Most remarkable are the communal toys that are always scattered around the compound, making it seem more like a backyard than a public park.
