As further evidence that the once-underground electro-rock sound has hit the big rooms, this year’s Decadence comes heavy with the digital noise. Playing alongside LA’s DJ AM and T.O.’s MSTRKRFT in the Guvernment are Team Canada DJs Grand Theft and D.R.one. The boys’ four-turntable party sets and Classic Material CD series have landed them gigs around the world — including a headlining stint at Paris Hilton’s b-day bash last month — with an extensive European tour slated for May.

Milk. and Hot Stepper once again join forces to bring Brooklyn beatsmith DJ Spinna back to town. Though Spinna comes from a staunchly independent hip-hop background, having first made waves in the ‘90s with his first group Jigmastas, he is as musically versatile as he is gifted. His solo productions and mix CDs incorporate the sounds of soul, house, hip-hop, funk and Afro-Latin rhythms, and his rousing DJ sets step even further. No matter the context, the man is a treat to hear.

DAZ-I-KUE @ THE GODFATHER

Some club concepts were simply meant to be. Having decided they wanted to pay tribute to James Brown — the godfather of funk — DJs and friends Daz-I-Kue and Karl Injex decided to throw a bash as part of last year’s Winter Music Conference in Miami. “The Godfather” — a night of James Brown originals, covers and songs that sample him — was an instant hit that has grown into a roving party. Here’s hoping that Daz-I-Kue, himself a godfather of broken beat as a member of the Bugz In the Attic production crew, also drops some of his highly original reworkings of tracks by black music icons including Linval Thompson and Sister Sledge.

STEVE BUG @ AFE SOCIETY TWO-YEAR

When it comes to making — and playing — gorgeous minimal tech, Berlin’s Steve Bug is a master. The DJ/producer has been honing his deep, distinctive sound since the early ‘90s, and is known for mixing truly hypnotic sets of house and techno. Bug also runs the highly regarded Poker Flat imprint and is currently touring in support of a new compilation for that label, Dead Man’s Hand. Here, he’ll play an extended set as part of techno party AFE Society’s second anniversary celebrations.

Australian DJ/producers Joel Dickson and Beni Single, together known as Riot in Belgium, have made a lot of noise in a very short time. Part of the Bang Gang bunch, they first developed reputations as solid party DJs who can slice and dice electro, acid and new disco with the best of ‘em. Their debut single, “The Acid Never Lies,” destroyed dancefloors upon its release on Relish Records in ‘06, and was quickly followed by the funky, filtered and French-touched “La Musique.” The duo are touring with Swiss DJ, producer and Relish label boss Headman whose own new album, Catch Me, is now out on Gomma.
