This 10-song debut from these locals is a strong showcase for vocalist Akira Alemany’s songwriting, as well as his harmonies alongside co-vocalist Aimee Mazzuca. All of the songs feel fully realized, with the band sporting a sound that’s alternately jangly, creepy and straightforward ‘70s-style rock. They have the ability to be mournful and dark on songs like “Where’s Your Boyfriend,” or simple and catchy, as on “missmybabygirl.” Mixed by Ryan Mills, and produced by Alemany (with assistance from Neil McDonald and the band’s drummer Brett Millius), the recording is clear-sounding, but not excessively polished. A confident release that could easily bring bigger things.
