WHO: Dan Springer, 40, freelance artist
WHAT: A three-bedroom detached home near Coxwell and Gerrard streets.
HOW LONG: He bought it seven years ago and says, “I signed a contract that says I bought it — but I still don’t own it.”
THE STORY: What Springer likes most about his home is that it’s detached and is close to the beach and downtown. He laughs, saying, “It’s close enough to downtown to get into trouble but far enough to stay out of trouble.” His bedroom is very minimal, with only a bed and an alarm clock. The other two bedrooms, rather than being occupied by roommates, have been converted into functional spaces. The biggest room is his studio, which allows for plenty of natural light, and the second room is the practice space for his band, tentatively named Six Gun Justice. Springer has been an art director in advertising for 10 years and is currently freelancing for Harley-Davison Canada, but modestly says, “I do screenprinting, painting and custom junk.”
DAN SPRINGER’S WORK WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT THE VANS SLIP-ON SHOW, OMY GALLERY (1140 QUEEN W), AUG 23, 8PM.
