Editorial Rating:

In this relentlessly frantic and frequently inspired Japanese comedy, a dorky singer of sunshine-y pop songs is horrified that the only gig he can find upon leaving music school is fronting a death metal band. Of course, it’s clear to everyone but the meek Souichi (Kenichi Matsuyama) that he was born to wear the platform boots, cape and wig he dons to become the fearsome Sir Krauser. The mugging, running and hectic slapstick may drive some viewers batty but there are so many hilarious moments here, not even a cameo by the ever-loathsome Gene Simmons can kill the buzz.
